Signature Bathrooms: Day 9 — Overall Visibility Up, Durban Query Slightly Down

The latest Google Search Console update separates the improving overall position from the specific commercial query, which has moved from 47.0 to 49.2.

The latest Google Search Console snapshot gives us a useful distinction: Signature Bathrooms’ overall visibility has improved, but the main commercial query has moved slightly backwards.

That distinction matters. A single site-wide average can improve while one important query falls, because Google calculates the overall figure across every impression received. The query-level movement tells us where the actual work is still needed.

The latest Search Console position

The current three-month Search Console window reports:

MetricCurrent value
Total clicks9
Total impressions112
Average CTR8%
Average position across all queries24.8

The overall average has improved from 38.5 in the first early snapshot, to 29.2 in the week-one update, and now 24.8.

That is a positive movement in the site’s overall search visibility. It does not mean every keyword has climbed, but it does mean the collection of queries for which Google is showing the site is now averaging closer to the front of the results.

The commercial query tells a different story

The important non-branded query is “bathroom renovations Durban.” Its recorded movement is:

SnapshotAverage position
Earlier week-one reading47.0
Current reading49.2

That is a deterioration of approximately 2.2 positions for this specific query. It remains a page-five result on average, so it is not yet a reliable traffic source.

The sample is still very small: 6 impressions and 1 click. We should therefore call this a current negative signal, not a permanent trend or a site-wide decline. Search Console averages can move noticeably when only a handful of impressions are available.

The local result is still holding

The Search Console data and the TVS Market Intelligence data measure different things.

Search Console aggregates real impressions from Google users across locations and devices. The MI tracker runs controlled searches for specific target queries from a consistent environment, allowing us to compare one run with the next.

The last confirmed MI result for Signature Bathrooms was position 6 for “bathroom renovation La Lucia,” and that position held across the Day 5 and Day 6 checks. That local result is still the clearest evidence that the location-specific strategy is working.

The broader Durban query is more competitive and has a much wider search intent. It is reasonable for the La Lucia page to establish a page-one foothold before the wider Durban term begins to follow.

What moved, and what did not

  • Overall Search Console visibility: up, from 29.2 to 24.8 since the previous update.
  • “Bathroom renovations Durban”: slightly down, from 47.0 to 49.2.
  • “Signature bathroom”: still strong at position 1.0.
  • “Signature bathrooms”: visible at position 6.3.
  • “Bathroom renovation La Lucia”: last controlled MI result was position 6 and holding.

There is no evidence here of a broad collapse. The evidence shows a young domain gaining overall visibility while its main broad commercial term continues to fluctuate deep in the results.

What we are doing with that information

The right response is not to rewrite the entire site because one low-volume average moved by two positions. The focus should remain on strengthening the commercial pathway:

  1. Keep the Durban renovation service page as the clear answer for the broad query.
  2. Maintain internal links between that page and the supporting local renovation pages.
  3. Continue adding genuinely useful guidance around renovation planning, quotations, waterproofing, coastal conditions and completed work.
  4. Watch whether the La Lucia position holds and whether Durban North, Umhlanga and nearby areas begin generating impressions.
  5. Compare the next Search Console window against the same query-level figures rather than relying only on the site-wide average.

The honest reading today is therefore mixed but positive overall: the site is moving up as a whole, while “bathroom renovations Durban” has slipped slightly and still needs work.
