Signature Bathrooms: Day 7 — The Market Intelligence View
The 43-industry SERP scan that ran across all of Durban on 8 August 2026 covered bathroom renovations. Signature Bathrooms now has a week of GSC data and a full competitive map. Here is what both say together.
The week one GSC report published yesterday showed an average position of 29.2, four real clicks, and brand settled at position one. That data covers the first week of signaturebathroom.co.za being live and indexed.
Yesterday also produced something else: the first SERP intelligence scan since the site launched that covered bathroom renovations as part of the 43-industry Durban run. For the first time we have both the GSC view from inside the site and the competitive landscape view from outside it.
They say different things. Together, they paint a clearer picture of where Signature Bathrooms sits and where the next positions are going to come from.
What the market scan shows about bathroom renovations in KZN
The full analysis of the bathroom renovation landscape is at Bathroom Renovations in KZN: Why the Suburb You Search From Changes Everything. The key findings relevant to Signature Bathrooms:
The generic “bathroom renovation Durban” query has no Maps local pack. Google suppresses the local pack for the broad Durban term because the geographic intent is too wide — Durban covers 2,300 square kilometres. This means no business — including Signature Bathrooms — appears in a Maps result for the head term. That is not a problem specific to Signature Bathrooms. It is the structure of the query.
The suburb-level queries produce functioning local packs. “Bathroom renovations Durban North” returns a Maps result with three businesses: Bellissimo Bathrooms (5 stars, 3 reviews), RK Home Improvements (4.2 stars, 38 reviews), and a third business with no website linked on its Google Business Profile. Signature Bathrooms is not yet in this local pack.
The Durban North organic results are more open than they appear. createandrenovate.co.za holds position 1 for suburb-specific queries by virtue of having built Durban North location content. Below it, the results are a mix of aggregators, Instagram pages, and Facebook group posts. There is no second local renovation specialist holding a stable organic position with Durban North-specific content.
What this means for the Signature Bathrooms trajectory
The GSC data and the SERP scan are pointing at the same gap from opposite directions.
GSC shows “bathroom renovations durban” at position 47 — deep, but registering impressions. The site is being evaluated for the commercial query. The La Lucia page holds position 6, confirmed across Days 5, 6, and now the intelligence scan.
The SERP scan shows that the Durban North local pack has a low review floor — the top Maps result for Durban North has 3 reviews. The third Maps position has no website linked on its GBP at all. The organic positions below position 1 are not held by structured, locally-specific content.
The Signature Bathrooms site already has more technical foundation than anything currently holding those positions: full schema markup, location-specific service pages, verified GBP, mobile-first layout, performance score of 98. What it does not yet have is the review accumulation and the index history.
The local pack entry threshold in this category
To understand what it takes to enter the Durban North Maps result, the current occupants are instructive. Three reviews at 5 stars holds position 1. Thirty-eight reviews holds position 2. The third position has no website linked to its profile.
Review count, in this category and at this suburb level, is the primary differentiator at the Maps tier. The organic tier is a content and authority question. Neither of those gaps is structural. Both close with time and consistent accumulation.
The site is one week old.
What the week two period is watching for
The SERP tracker will continue monitoring La Lucia and — from this week — Durban North specifically. The questions being tracked:
- Does “bathroom renovations durban north” start producing GSC impressions alongside “bathroom renovations durban”?
- Does the La Lucia position hold at 6, or does it improve as the site accumulates index history?
- Does the average GSC position continue moving from 29.2 toward the mid-20s range?
GSC data for week two will appear in the next scheduled update. SERP tracker runs continue on the standard cycle.
