Five Days to Page One: The Signature Bathrooms Case Study

Signature Bathrooms is a division of Reno Incorporated, a 30-year KZN construction business. Their website launched on 4 August 2026. By 8 August, they were on page one of Google for a commercial bathroom renovation query in their target market. This is a full account of how.

Signature Bathrooms is a division of Reno Incorporated — a KwaZulu-Natal construction and renovation company with 30 years of operating history. Their bathroom renovation work serves homes in Durban North, Umhlanga, La Lucia, Ballito, and the surrounding coast. Their reputation is built on word of mouth. They had no web presence — no website, no online portfolio, nothing linked to Google.

The brief was to build one that worked.

On 4 August 2026, signaturebathroom.co.za went live.

On 8 August 2026 — five days later — it appeared at position 6 on the first page of Google for “bathroom renovation La Lucia.”

This is a complete account of what was built, what the data showed at each stage, and what produced that result.

The market they entered

Before building anything, the TVS Market Intelligence system — which monitors 45 search queries across 18 industries in KwaZulu-Natal daily — provided a baseline read on what Signature Bathrooms would be competing against.

The current market leader for bathroom renovation search results in their area is createandrenovate.co.za. Their site has nine pages in the sitemap. No blog. No schema markup. No location-specific service pages. They hold their position through domain age and review volume — not through content. The content gap across this market is significant.

Of the 249 businesses tracked across industries in our monitoring dataset, only 16 have deployed LocalBusiness schema markup — the structured data type that tells Google precisely what type of business a site represents, where it operates, and what it does. The market average technical score across 223 analysed businesses is 8 out of 25. The average is not a high bar.

Signature Bathrooms launched above it.

What was built

The site was built as a static Astro build, hosted on the TVS VPS — dedicated server, not shared hosting — with nginx, Let’s Encrypt SSL configured for both signaturebathroom.co.za and www.signaturebathroom.co.za, and DNS correctly provisioned for both web and email. Email routes through the existing Afrihost infrastructure Reno Incorporated already had in place.

Static hosting means fast load times, no server-side dependencies to fail, and redeployment in under two minutes when content updates.

The schema implementation on every page covers four types: LocalBusiness, HomeAndConstructionBusiness, Service, and WebSite. The LocalBusiness implementation establishes the geographic service area explicitly. The parentOrganization field links Signature Bathrooms to Reno Incorporated in a format Google can parse directly, establishing the relationship between the two businesses before either has accumulated any link equity from the other.

The technical audit on day one produced the following scores, measured on mobile, throttled to Slow 4G, using real Lighthouse metrics:

CategoryScore
Performance98
Accessibility100
Best Practices100
SEO100
Agentic Browsing3/3

A 100% SEO score on launch day requires correct canonical URLs, a valid robots.txt, a sitemap, complete Open Graph metadata, descriptive alt text on images, proper heading structure, and schema markup that validates. It was resolved before the site went live, not after.

The on-page score across the TVS audit framework: 10 out of 10. The technical score at launch: 13 out of 25 — a market range where no business in our dataset scores 18 or above.

What happened in the first four days

Google Search Console data surfaced four days after indexing. Two queries had registered impressions:

QueryAverage PositionImpressionsClicks
signature bathrooms8.521
bathroom renovations durban47.020

Position 8.5 for the branded query means page one for the business’s own name. Position 47 for a competitive commercial query — “bathroom renovations durban” — means page five. That is not a traffic-generating position. But for a domain first indexed three days prior, appearing in the top 50 for a competitive commercial term is ahead of what most new domains achieve in their first week.

The overall average position across both queries moved from 40.4 to 38.5 in a single 24-hour period — nearly two positions of improvement overnight.

Two inbound calls arrived from social media during this period — before any page-one search position existed. Neither was search-attributed. Both were direct enquiries requesting bathroom renovation quotes. The market is active. The brand presentation is converting interest before organic search has done any substantive work.

Day five: position six

The TVS Market Intelligence system’s morning run on 8 August 2026 — 45 queries, 417 organic results collected across 18 industries — returned the following for “bathroom renovation La Lucia”:

PositionDomain
1facebook.com
2snupit.co.za
3createandrenovate.co.za
4facebook.com
5auxilliaryplumbers.co.za
6signaturebathroom.co.za
7instagram.com
8manmadeprojects.co.za
9bellisimoprojects.co.za

The URL that ranked: signaturebathroom.co.za/bathroom-renovations/umhlanga-la-lucia/

createandrenovate.co.za — the incumbent with nine pages and no blog — sits three positions ahead on the same query. Their result is their homepage. Signature Bathrooms has a dedicated service page for that location.

For the six broader queries in the monitored set — “bathroom renovations Durban,” “bathroom renovations Umhlanga,” “bathroom renovations Durban North,” “bathroom redesign Durban,” “custom bathroom renovation Durban,” and “bathroom fitters Durban” — Signature Bathrooms does not yet appear in the top organic results. Those queries carry higher search volume and require more domain authority to compete. They are a function of time and continued content publication.

Why it happened this fast

Three things aligned.

The foundation was readable from day one. Schema markup, geographic specificity in the page content, clean technical structure, and correct metadata gave Google a complete picture of what the site was and who it served before any ranking signals had accumulated. A site that Google can categorise accurately accumulates authority faster than one it has to infer from incomplete signals.

The location-specific page matched the query precisely. “Bathroom renovation La Lucia” is a hyper-local search. The buyer has a suburb in mind. A page built around Umhlanga and La Lucia as a specific geographic cluster answers that query more directly than a homepage covering the broader market. The incumbent’s homepage mentions Umhlanga. Signature Bathrooms has a page about it.

The market had no content competition. The business holding the top organic position for bathroom renovations in this area has nine pages and no published content. There is no dominant content publisher in this category. When Signature Bathrooms published a location-specific service page, Google had a better answer than anything already in the index. It used it.

What this demonstrates

A 30-year business with an established reputation, a clear service area, and real client relationships should not be competing with a directory listing and a Facebook page for visibility. The search market for bathroom renovations in KZN has real demand — buyers actively searching for exactly what Signature Bathrooms offers — and until this month, nobody in this market had made a serious attempt to serve that demand with content.

The five-day timeline is not a trick. It is the outcome of building something correctly from the start, in a market where correctly-built sites are rare enough that Google notices.
