Signature Bathrooms: Day 5 — First Page-One Position
Five days after indexing, signaturebathroom.co.za is at position 6 for 'bathroom renovation La Lucia'. The first page-one commercial result came from a location-specific service page, not the homepage — and the incumbent is three positions ahead on the same query.
signaturebathroom.co.za has its first confirmed page-one organic position.

Why a service page ranked before the homepage did
The homepage of signaturebathroom.co.za is targeting the broader market — bathroom renovations in Durban, Umhlanga, and the surrounding KZN coast. It does not appear in the top results for the main head terms yet. That is expected. Domain authority takes time, and the head terms are competitive.
What the homepage could not do in five days, a location-specific service page did: rank for the precise geographic query a buyer in that suburb would use.
“Bathroom renovation La Lucia” is a specific, intent-loaded search. The buyer is not browsing — they have a suburb in mind and want a result that speaks directly to it. A page whose URL, title, and content are constructed around Umhlanga and La Lucia as a specific geographic cluster is better positioned for that query than a homepage covering the whole market, regardless of which site has the stronger domain overall.
This is the structural logic behind location-specific service pages. They create entry points at the granular queries where the competition has no content at all, while the homepage builds authority over a longer horizon.
The incumbent comparison
createandrenovate.co.za — the business the baseline article identified as holding the top organic position for this market without any blog content — sits at position 3 for “bathroom renovation La Lucia” this morning. Three positions ahead on the same query.
That gap is not structural. createandrenovate.co.za holds position three through domain age, not content. Their La Lucia presence is their homepage, which mentions Umhlanga and Durban North but is not a page about La Lucia specifically. signaturebathroom.co.za, at position 6, has a dedicated service page for that location.
As Google establishes more confidence in the domain — which happens across the two-to-four week window the previous entry described — a location-specific page versus a broadly scoped homepage is an increasingly significant structural advantage.
The six other queries
For the remaining six tracked queries — “bathroom renovations Durban,” “bathroom renovations Umhlanga,” “bathroom renovations Durban North,” “bathroom redesign Durban,” “custom bathroom renovation Durban,” and “bathroom fitters Durban” — signaturebathroom.co.za does not yet appear in the top organic results.
This is not unusual. Those queries are broader in geographic scope and carry higher competition. The domain will need more indexed content, more backlinks, and more time before it is positioned to compete at those head terms. The La Lucia result suggests the underlying technical profile is being read correctly. The broader terms are a matter of when, not whether.
What the sequence shows
Five days of data tells a specific story:
- Day 1 (Aug 3): first indexed, no visible positions
- Day 4 (Aug 7): position 47 for “bathroom renovations durban” via GSC; branded query at 8.5; two social-attributed calls
- Day 5 (Aug 8): position 6 for “bathroom renovation La Lucia” confirmed by SERP monitoring
The direction is correct, and it is moving faster than the baseline projected. The previous entry in this series noted that content strategy was beginning “this week” and that location-specific service pages were the first deliverable. Day 5 is the first data point confirming those pages have been indexed and are ranking.
Position 6 is not a traffic-generating position on its own. It is evidence that the approach is working, and the approach builds from there.
